Wow, I just got back to school from spring break. Isn’t that lovely? I’m already saddled with tons of homework and had to skip track practice. But on the bright side, I received the most excellent news today. I made it to State in Power of the Pen! (It’s a national writing competition) Me and Steven both made it. We are the only students from our school to ever make it past regionals. I am so excited to be going because only the top 15% of writers from regionals got to go onto the competition.

In other good news, I was invited to this female engineering and science career day at this local college. Apparently, I was recommended because of my involvement with the school robotics team. They only invite two or three girls from each school so I’m really excited.

It’s my last quarter ever at my current school until high school so I’ve got to make this one count.

Yumm, I’ve been totally overloaded with good Haitian food. Chicken, spagetti with shrimp, and those little plaintain bananas are sooo good. I just ate breakfast and am now so full I can barely type. Ugh, I gotta learn have some self control.

I’m gonna be sad to go home today. (it was just an overnight trip) But I’ll see them again soon when they fly up here in Febuary. So it’s all good. =]

Beagle With His Head In the Clouds

You wouldn’t want this poor little guy to be hurt or abused do you? Don’t you just want to reach out and give him a big hug? An animal lover would never dream of hurting an animal (or anyone for that matter) .Unfortunatly not all people are as kind and loving as you.

Many poor animals are victimized by cruel owners everyday. Thousands have died from abuse and over four million animals have been put to sleep in a shelter this year alone because they simply aren’t wanted by anyone. Even though animal abuse is illegal it often times isn’t reported.

Animal abusers often do it because they feel powerful and an animal can’t report them. Often an animal will be beaten, abused, starved, and neglected for years. But that isn’t the scariest part. When an abuser is done with an animal they will usually kill it. The poor animal had no chance at a life. It’s freedom and joy was taken away by one person’s evil actions.

Luckily, there are peole like us who love animals and would do anything to protect them. There are many organizations that work hard to protect animals such as and Helping Animals  (run by Peta). Go to those websites and find out what you can do to help. Together we can save many lives.

But What Can One Person Do?
